Batteries. Batteries wear out. Signs include a battery draining fast by lunchtime, a sudden shutdown at 20 percent, or a phone that dies the moment it leaves the cable. A swollen battery needs attention sooner. It can push the screen up or bend the case, so it should be replaced soon.
