The Fix is a dedicated phone repair store inside North Star Mall at 7400 San Pedro Ave #2130, San Antonio, TX 78216, conveniently located so a repair can share the trip with the rest of your errands. We fix iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, along with the other devices you carry and use at home. Many phone and tablet repairs are same-day, often taking less than 30 minutes.
The first reason is that the repair fits into a visit you were already making. Hand over the phone, grab lunch or finish a few stops while you are shopping, and pick it up on your way out.
The second reason is model range. We work on phones that are several years old as well as the newest releases, from an iPhone 11 up to the iPhone 17 line, and from the Galaxy A series up to the Galaxy S25. That covers the phone in your pocket and, often, the older one sitting in a drawer at home that a family member could still use.
The third reason is the diagnosis. It is free. A technician tests the device, finds the part that actually failed, and tells you whether one repair covers the problem or two things need attention.
Screen replacement is the center of our phone work. A cracked screen on an iPhone 15, shattered glass across a Galaxy S25 Ultra, or a panel with unresponsive touch after a drop on a parking garage floor all come down to the same repair: a new screen assembly fitted to the frame. Lines, green tint or a black panel with sound still playing usually mean the screen layer underneath the glass is damaged too, and that is part of the same job.
Battery replacement is the other big one. Every charge cycle wears a battery a little, and after a couple of years it shows. A battery draining fast by midafternoon, a percentage that jumps around, or a phone that will not power on until it sits on the charger for a while all point to the battery. We replace batteries on iPhones, on a Galaxy A35 as well as the S series, and on the Google Pixel 9 and earlier Pixel models.
Charging port repair covers slow charging, a cable that slips out, or a phone that only charges at one angle. Debris in the port can cause the same symptoms as a worn connector, so the port is inspected closely before any part is replaced.
Back glass is its own repair on newer iPhones. The rear panel is glass, and it cracks when a phone lands face up. We replace cracked back glass, a broken camera lens cover that leaves photos hazy, and the earpiece or loudspeaker when calls start sounding like a muffled speaker behind a wall.
Water damage needs a fast response. Turn the phone off, keep it off, and bring it in. We open it, clean corrosion from the board and check which parts still work before recommending anything.
The Fix at North Star Mall repairs tablets, laptops and game consoles alongside phones. That makes it one stop for the devices a whole household depends on.
Tablets take a beating from kids, car rides and kitchen floors, and the glass on a large screen breaks easily. We replace screens on the iPad Air and iPad mini, the base iPad and iPad Pro models, and Samsung Galaxy Tab devices. Tablet batteries and charging ports are repaired here too.
For computers, we work on the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro and Windows laptops. Broken screens, keyboards that stopped working after a spill, worn batteries and failing storage drives are the usual reasons a laptop comes to us.
Game consoles round out the list. We fix PlayStation 5 consoles that overheat or will not read discs, Xbox Series X units with power problems, and Nintendo Switch screens and charging ports. For laptops and consoles, timing depends on the fault, so the technician explains what the job involves once the device has been checked.
Our parts are high-quality and specific to each model, so a replacement screen or battery fits the device it goes into.
The store also carries accessories: protective cases, tempered glass screen protectors, privacy screen protectors and camera lens protectors. If you pick a screen protector, our team can apply it for you right in the store, lined up and bubble free. A case and protector on a freshly repaired phone is a simple way to keep it in one piece.
A repair at The Fix in North Star Mall follows five stages.
Stage 1: Walk in. No appointment is needed. Bring the device, and for a laptop, bring its charger too.
Stage 2: Diagnosis. The technician tests the device and pins down the part that failed.
Stage 3: Quote and approval. You see the cost and the expected timing, and the repair goes ahead once you say yes.
Stage 4: Repair. The technician replaces the damaged part at the store.
Stage 5: Checks and pickup. We run through touch, cameras, speakers and charging, then hand the device back to you.
The Fix is inside North Star Mall at 7400 San Pedro Ave #2130, San Antonio, TX 78216, on the upper level across from the food court. The mall sits in Uptown San Antonio at the corner of Loop 410 and San Pedro Avenue, with Macy's, Dillard's and JCPenney as its anchor stores.
From I-410, take Exit 20A for San Pedro Avenue. The giant cowboy boots, a 40-foot sculpture on the Loop 410 frontage road, mark the mall from the highway and are hard to miss. TxDOT is reworking the Loop 410 ramps around San Pedro Avenue, so follow the posted signs for the mall entrances. San Antonio International Airport is under two miles to the northeast.
Shearer Hills and Ridgeview begin just south of the mall. Castle Hills lies a short drive to the northwest, and Olmos Park is a few miles south.
The San Antonio heat is hard on phone batteries. Long summers push the inside of a parked car well past what a lithium battery is built for, and a phone left on the seat or charging in a hot car wears its battery faster than one kept cool.
Heat shows up in two ways. The first is a sudden shutdown with a temperature warning, which is the phone protecting itself. That one usually clears once the phone cools down. The second is lasting: a swollen battery. Heat speeds up the chemical wear inside the cell, gas builds up, and the battery starts pushing against the screen from behind, leaving a gap along the edge of the phone. Stop charging a phone in that state and bring it in, because a swollen battery should not stay in use.
A few habits help in a Texas summer. Keep the phone out of direct sun in the car, let it cool before charging, and take a thick case off during long navigation sessions if the phone runs hot.
Expect a friendly welcome and a team that takes the time to answer your questions, from the first one at the door to the handoff at the end.
Expect help with more than the repair itself. The team helps you pick a case that suits the phone and your style, and fits a screen protector for you so you do not have to fight with air bubbles at home.
Many iPhone 17 screen repairs at The Fix in North Star Mall are same-day, often taking less than 30 minutes. What drives the time is whether the frame bent in the drop and whether the screen for your exact model is on hand, which the technician confirms at the start.
The time it takes to repair a water damaged phone depends on how far the liquid reached and how long the phone sat wet before it came in. Pool water and sugary drinks leave more residue than fresh water, and that changes how long the cleanup takes.
How long a MacBook repair takes depends on why it will not power on. A dead battery or a failed charging port is a very different job from a board fault, and the technician tells you what the timing depends on once the cause is found.
Two things set the price of a Galaxy A35 cracked screen repair: the screen part available for the A35 and whether the drop bent the frame. The A series uses different screens from the S series, which is why the model matters more than the size of the crack.
For iPhone back glass repair, your model and how far the cracks spread decide the cost. Glass that has broken around the camera housing or into the edges of the frame takes more work than a single crack across the back.
An iPad mini battery repair is priced by generation, because each one uses a different battery and a different way into the device. Reaching the battery means removing the screen, so a screen that is already cracked can change the total.
Whether the port needs a cleaning or a new part is the main factor in what a Google Pixel charging port repair costs. A replacement port also varies by Pixel model, since newer models use a different part than older ones.
What you pay for a PlayStation 5 HDMI port repair depends on the console version and on whether the damage stayed in the port or reached the board around it. A port bent by a pulled cable is a more contained job than one with lifted connections.
You can often get a phone repaired at North Star Mall before a flight from San Antonio International Airport if you come in with time to spare. Tell the technician your departure time at drop-off, and the diagnosis will show whether the repair fits before you need to head out.
You can walk in without an appointment at The Fix across from the North Star Mall food court. No booking needed.
How long a ghost touch repair takes depends on what is making the screen tap and swipe by itself. A faulty charger or a cracked screen protector can be ruled out quickly, while a damaged screen layer after a drop means a screen replacement for your model.
What a Joy-Con drift repair costs depends on whether one stick or both need a new analog stick module, and on which Switch model the Joy-Con belongs to. Drift is when a character or cursor moves without anyone touching the stick.
