PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play Was Huge — But Is Your PS5 Actually Ready to Run These Games?

Sony just wrapped its June 2026 State of Play. Over an hour of back-to-back announcements. Big names, big release dates, and a lineup that’s going to keep PS5 owners busy well into 2027.

It was one of the stronger showcases in recent memory.

But here’s the thing nobody’s saying: if your PS5 has been acting up, coasting on borrowed time, or running hotter than it should — that release calendar just became a problem. Because what’s coming is going to push your console hard.

Let’s break it down.

Everything Announced at PlayStation State of Play June 2026

Marvel’s Wolverine

The show opened with a deeper look at Insomniac’s long-awaited Marvel’s Wolverine. Faster, more violent, and more technically demanding than the Spider-Man series. The new gameplay trailer made one thing clear: this isn’t a polished superhero stroll. It’s raw, combo-heavy, and relentless. Your PS5 will feel every frame of it.

God of War: Laufey

The biggest surprise of the night. Faye steps into the spotlight — the narrative follows her journey through the afterlife of the gods, exploring the woman behind the legend. God of War titles are known for sustained, performance-intensive sessions. Long playthroughs. Constant graphical load. This is the kind of game that reveals your console’s thermal limits fast.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Atmospheric horror is back. Silent Hill: Townfall got its full reveal, and it looks like everything fans have been hoping for. The genre depends on immersion — audio, visuals, pacing. A console that stutters, overheats, or crashes mid-session doesn’t just ruin the moment. It ruins the game.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Lara Croft returns with a full-scale PS5 exclusive. Action-adventure, cinematic production, the kind of title that uses everything the hardware has to offer. Another entry on the list that demands a console running at full capacity.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword — September 25, 2026

Capcom brings back one of its most beloved franchises. Miyamoto Musashi. Demon-overrun Edo-period Kyoto. The Oni Gauntlet. Fast, technical, visually dense combat. A demo is already live. If you haven’t played it yet, this one’s coming fast — September 25.

No Rest for the Wicked — October 2026

Moon Studios, the team behind Ori and the Blind Forest, built this over years with feedback from 1.8 million early access players. Action RPG. Demanding. Punishing. Beautiful. Hits PS5 in October. That’s four months away.

Until Dawn 2 — 2027

A new cast. A remote island. Ghost hunters chasing viral content. More tension, more horror, more hours logged. 2027 gives you time — but not as much as you think.

Your PS5 Is About to Work Overtime

Look at that release window. September. October. End of 2026. 2027.

That’s not a slow trickle. That’s a sustained heavy load on your console — session after session, week after week. And if your PS5 is already showing warning signs, those games won’t fix the problem. They’ll expose it.

This is the reality of game console repair timing: most people wait until something completely fails. Then they’re without their console for days, right in the middle of a release window they’ve been looking forward to for months.

Don’t do that.

Common PS5 Problems We See at The Fix

PlayStation repair is one of the most frequent services we handle at The Fix. Here’s what comes through our doors regularly — and what it usually means.

PS5 Overheating / Loud Fan Noise The most common complaint we hear. Your PS5 runs hot during heavy sessions and the fan ramps up to compensate. When it’s excessive — loud, constant, accompanied by performance drops — it’s usually a thermal paste degradation or dust accumulation issue. Left alone, it reduces your console’s lifespan and causes long-term component damage. It’s fixable. Quickly.

PS5 Disc Drive Not Working Not reading discs. Grinding when you insert one. Refusing to eject. Disc drive failures are mechanical and they don’t resolve on their own. If you’re a physical media player, this is a repair you can’t skip.

HDMI Port Damage No signal. Intermittent connection. Flickering display. The PS5’s HDMI port is a known weak point — especially in setups where the cable gets moved frequently. Our technicians handle HDMI port replacements on PS5s regularly.

DualSense Controller Drift The classic. Analog stick drift that sends your character walking when your thumb isn’t touching the controller. It happens gradually and then suddenly it’s everywhere. Drift repairs are fast and affordable. Don’t let a drifting controller ruin a $70 game.

PS5 Won’t Turn On / Power Issues Presses the button and nothing happens. Or it boots and immediately shuts off. Power supply and mainboard issues can range from simple to complex, but they’re diagnosable. Bring it in before it gets worse.

Software Errors / Database Corruption Crashing games, freezing dashboards, error codes, database rebuild loops. Sometimes software-side. Sometimes a symptom of underlying hardware stress. Either way, it’s worth having a professional look.

Liquid Damage Spills happen. Coffee, water, drinks near the setup. Liquid damage is time-sensitive — the faster you bring it in, the better the odds of recovery.

PS4 Repair Not everyone has upgraded yet. We repair PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles too. HDMI issues, disc drive problems, overheating — same quality of service, same turnaround.

The State of Play Just Gave You a Calendar. Plan Around It.

Onimusha drops September 25. No Rest for the Wicked follows in October. Marvel’s Wolverine is building toward a launch. God of War: Laufey and Silent Hill: Townfall are on the horizon. Until Dawn 2 is coming in 2027.

You have time. Use it.

If your PS5 has been showing any of the issues above, now is the right window for PlayStation repair — before the heavy release season hits, not during it. A console in for service during a quiet month is far less painful than one failing during launch week.

Walk into your nearest The Fix location, drop off your console, and get it back running the way it should. No stress. No downtime at the wrong moment.
