The first step is to power cycle your controller, which should fix the issue. To do this, simply place the controller in the Xbox One&#8217;s dock and press the power button. Next, remove the thumbsticks from the controller. The thumbsticks should pull off easily, but if they do not, you can clean them by hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another option is to send your controller in for a repair. You can do this by going to Settings, then Controllers. Then, select Calibrate Controller, and follow the instructions on the screen. Alternatively, you can also follow the instructions on the user manual for the joystick. Calibration may not be necessary if you are using a rechargeable battery. In case your controller is still drifting, you may need to replace the device.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other possible cause of drifting is dirty thumbstick pads. These aren&#8217;t necessarily the most common cause, but if they are, they should be cleaned out with alcohol. A cotton swab can be used to wipe the surfaces of the thumbsticks with alcohol. Do not apply the alcohol in a circular motion, as you might damage the controller. If the problem persists, you should try to replace the thumbsticks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;ve followed the steps in this guide, you should be able to fix your controller yourself. It can be done at home with simple tools and a bit of knowledge. However, before you do this, you should follow some safety measures and use tweezers to remove the green covers. Afterward, you can use alcohol to clean the sensor. You should replace it if you notice the problem persists. You can also replace the thumbstick springs if they&#8217;re worn. But remember to check the manufacturer&#8217;s specifications before performing the repair.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, you need to remove the analog stick. To do this, remove the analog stick from the controller and use a pry tool to pull the springs out of the analog stick. Then, solder the new analog stick assembly in its place.
